30 hot fudge cake

This is a rich, chocolate cake that’s not overly sweet. Serve with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream over top and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons (30 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons (9 g) baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (2 g) salt
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (220 g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups (415 ml) hot water

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, white sugar, 2 tablespoons (9 g) cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Spread in ungreased 9 inch (22 g) square baking pan.
  2. Combine brown sugar and 4 tablespoons (20 g) cocoa; sprinkle over batter in the pan. Pour hot water over all; do not stir.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm.
